Gulf Run 8 - Day 2

2nd Day of Gulf Run means the group photo in Turn1..

This has been a tradition since.. GR6 as far as I remember ..

I am happy to see cars from above.. you notice more details when it comes to aerodynamics and stuff..

Usually they take the picture after few morning runs around the GP circuit and then opt for a break, then come back for the most competitive part.. TIMING!

After the pictures and timing.. there comes one of the parts I love personally..
Drag Racing..
Why?
Because you see normal street cars racing with normal drivers.. nothing like 2000bhp and modified to the last bit..

And suddenly the Kanoo or AKA EKanoo Oakly Ferrari Italia 458 (What a long name) shows up along with the bad ass Porsche EVMSSomething :/

@GulfRun 8 - Day1

As usual.. GulfRun is a great event for car lovers not only from Kuwait, but it grabs the attention of Bahrainis and Emaratis too..

This year is the 8th..

Thank god i've never missed a GulfRun since GR5

And every year, we see new cars.. new participants and new people we meet around different set ups of the track.

During day1 activities, drivers used two different set ups, Outer Circuit and inner Circuit. both giving the driver more chances to experience cars on short straights and tight turns. The more you experience, The more you know about your car and the limits of it.

This year, I was hoping to see a battle between the Ferrari Italia 458 and the McLaren MP4-12C. but I was moving a lot. and seems the brake pads of the Ferrari were worn out before the event!

Everyone loved the McLaren, But I was hoping the sound of it doing full throttle runs would be more interesting.. But overall.. A great car!

18 years old Kuwaiti racer Zaid Ashkanani

Zaid Ashkanani is the youngest racer in the Porsche GT3 Cup Middle East Challenge. He got the best results so far in his category for new drivers, and Probably next year will race the pro drivers in the advanced level since his timing is already very close to their numbers.

I've known Zaid and his father few years ago, and I've been in the track with him several times in a Porsche GT3 RS and a Ferrari 430 Scuderia before he reached the age of 18. and I can tell you the kid can drive!

Wish him all of the luck, he brought more trophies in the history of racing in Kuwait than any other driver so far considering his age and his experience in the field.

This one though is so cool and been rebuilt again with better brakes and lighter composites.
